For those who DON'T believe in reincarnation, such as old-school Catholics, I could see how someone could come to believe that "less than 1% are saved". I mean, vanishingly few souls actually "get it right" on the first try (i.e. first lifetime) or even the first several tries, after all. Does that mean that 99%+ are hopelessly damned then? Hardly! Some are, of course, but most souls likely just need to go through more lifetimes in this "Earth School" before they are ready to cross over to the other side for good. So with all due respect, this sort of overly linear and binary thinking clearly EXPLODES to RUBBLE when reincarnation is put into the equation. At least that's what I believe.
