Discussion Sex etc New Order

Part 3  Sex-video games etc New Order

Discussion

From Pete Jackson:

Thank you for the response and clarifications. Overall you made some good points. We still may have to respectfully agree to disagree about some of it, but at least now it is not quite as strongly as before. Two things I would like to add:

1) I should have noted before that I am certainly NOT a fan of male-domination porn or otherwise degrading stuff like that myself. The vast, vast majority of the material out there is really a massive turnoff to me. It basically ranges from the "merely" androcentric and grossly inaccurate, to the "more funny than sexy", and all the way to the absolutely vile, twisted, disturbing, degrading, and disgusting. Why any guys would actually NEED that kind of stuff when "dancing with themselves" is really quite bizarre when you think about it. My own imagination can do far better than that, lol. (And of course, I should note, there is nothing inherently wrong with "taking matters into one's own hands" per se.)

2) Back to video games, that is where we will probably still have to agree to disagree a bit. First, with all due respect, I think you might be reading a wee bit too much into it IMHO. I dig what you are saying, but however dark or violent it may be, playing a fictional game with fictional characters all while knowing it is fiction is inherently missing one crucial element in the equation: INTENTION. These games are generally NOT played with any serious intention to harm any living creature in real life, and if anything is more of a catharsis to dispel any negative energy from the shadow side that literally everyone has. (If there was a real intention, it would probably be far cheaper and more efficient to simply get/make some voodoo dolls and pins, lol. Not that I advocate that, of course.) But I digress. Back to the science, we can all argue till we are blue in the face, but I still personally believe the best studies on the matter basically show that there is very little to nothing to fear from these games overall, as summed up in the book Moral Combat (an obvious pun on the title of a fighting game series, Mortal Kombat) by Markey and Ferguson.

Also, Rasa, I would also like to add that perhaps the reason why the three of us disagree about some things here and there could be that, just from my own observations, I seem to be somewhat more left-brain dominant and you seem to be somewhat more right-brain dominant, and William is somewhere in the middle I think.  Additionally, we are from two very different generations as well, for better or worse, so it is really not all that surprising that our perspectives will vary.  And it is truly natural and normal for people to at least somewhat fear what they don't quite fully understand, which works both ways.

From William - Hi Everyone:

I suppose both porn and video games have the same problem. I don’t think many people would object to porn that shows a couple both enjoying, loving sex with each other. What is objectionable is someone getting hurt, humiliated or forced to do something they don’t want to do. The same is true of video games. If it is just a game of skill, no-one would object to that. But if it is a game of showing people getting hurt of killed then that is something different.

But why just pick on porn or video games? Films we see on TV or the cinema are also full of violence and people being cruel and nasty with each other.  This is the big problem with human beings. Make a film of any type where everyone are being kind and loving towards each other and people will say it’s terribly boring. So that is what we human beings are like, we find violence and conflict entertaining in stories, films. porn and video games and find too much love and harmony boring.

From Rasa to William,

From time immemorial as longs as stories were told there's drama & violence.  Recently I heard a story from Tolstoy where a man committed suicide, unexpectedly, from a conflict he had between his wife & Mistress - his ending was a shock.

This I have no problem with.  This is real life.

But when low minded, demonic men take the subject of sex & turn it into a nightmare of degradation of women, there's a problem there.  And boys are accessing porn I read starting AGE ELEVEN!  And they degrade women just to make money, some don't want to be in these videos but they have to as they are paid & they need the money.  So they go along with it & PRETEND its OK, or even 'I love it.'  Sure, I love being slapped around, kicked & beaten also.  No, its not physical violence like that but it's the same idea.

Besides degrading women they also degrade men because they make them seem animalistic - no sensitivity, no spirituality no tender emotions, no caring, no LOVE.  This is OFFENSIVE TO GOD. These movies are not art - they are something from the Black Lagoon {not about race, re demonic!}.  And CHILDREN can gain access to this where it influences their whole lives!

One more point.  I’m not even against violence in art – William – it’s a NATURAL part of life.  We must accept violence, or else we’re whitewashing life.  Killing & eating the kill is common to half of all creatures.  But this ‘art’ is taking violence a step further {as are ‘snuff movies.’} It isn’t NORMAL OR natural – snuff movies & violent video games, IMO are DEMONIC.  They don’t even have a point, a moral, a lesson, as great art will.  They are violence for the thrill of it, the way ‘thrill killers’ operate.  No reason, just hate, just demons.

PS:  Lt. Col. Dave Grossman tells a meaningful story.  His son – age 13 – went for a ‘night over’ with a boy his age – the Dad also of military. When he returned he couldn’t sleep, tossed & turned, had bad insomnia.  Father interviewed him in detail what went on during the sleep over.  It was SNUFF MOVIES the other Dad let them watch!  Col. Grossman went over & read the riot act to this man – how dare he let these boys watch this sort of movie!  I am so on board with him!

If ever a child goes to other people’s houses, especially overnight – boy or girl – you better damn be sure what goes on.  In our Order, I WILL NOT even allow our children to hang out at other people’s houses unless we know WHO IS THERE & WHAT GOES ON. There could be a child molester or unsafe space where there’s no supervision & a criminal could gain access to them.

There are other factors too, involved here.  They could be setting us up by questioning the child with intended hostility.  If there are men around – the Father, other men – they could take issue with Female Empowerment & Matriarchy & look for reasons to frame us, hurt our reputations or worse!  It would be like the Amish allowing their children to go to non-Amish homes of secret enemies, then these people report lies & nonsense they ‘learned’ or misinterpreted from the children.  Children can be easily ‘trapped’ in conversation.  So no visits without an adult chaperone who’s always with the child!  Once you allow someone ACCESS they can pretend they KNOW SOMETHING & it could be LIES.

    As far as video games Pete, don't think of yourself but the children who play violent games.  Apparently it isn't hurting you - so it seems.  But what about kids age 10 & up who can access these games? - Your own son for instance.  You want them to play these games instead of doing something better? They could be reading Charles Dickens.  I read 'Great Expectations' in the 4th grade, age 9.  I was reading Freud & Albert Camus age 14 & 'The Art of Loving' age 15 by Eric Fromm - 'Gone With the Wind' age 12, 'Rebecca' by Daphne DeMaurier the same year.  Or then there's CLASSIC MOVIES - artistic & meaningful they could be seeing, or sports & recreation, or learning about classical music, ballet & opera which I enjoyed from the time in Mom's womb. {I know the last items are sticky for most, but remember, the elites & well educated persons enjoy these, so why not expose Americans & regular folks to these? - A sign of good ‘breeding’ or lifestyle.  NOT being an ‘elitist,’ I would hate that – being aware of the fine arts.}

I'm not sure it's age & generation that separates our opinion; I think its experience & exposure to life & various forms of art.  I've seen too many Forensic Files & other criminal shows to take violence lightly.  It's a fact of life, there's no denying it & we have to face it, deal with it.  But to PARTICIPATE as a form of ENTERTAINMENT to pretend one is KILLING OTHERS that I scratch my head on.  When I saw these I thought, as an excuse,

    "They're killing demons."

If it's demons & one destroys evil, fine.  I do exorcisms.  But still, their method of killing is not spiritual; it's physical like war, is it not?  So the enemy is always the demon - the cowboys & Indians, who was to blame?  Depends who’s talking.

That about ends it for me on these 2 points, I think I'll move to another area now - Housing & convenience vs. privacy.  It's a big subject also.  I am IMAGINING everything in advance in order to CONCEIVE this Order, how it could start, how it can keep moving.

Our arguments are helpful including the disagreements, as the people involved will bring up protests & other opinions, so we are facing this in advance.  There will also be criticism from the outside world including the media.  So we rehearse.

Just one more thing regards video games Pete.  One of us is right or both of us are partially right – but, what do I do about it?  My decision is that it is better to ‘err’ on my side than on yours.  In other words, the elimination of violent video games will do NOTHING to injure or deter the spiritual ambiance of our Order, but the inclusion of them MIGHT affect our youth.  And so, making them taboo will not hurt – making them OK might. So prohibiting them is the safest course.   Rasa

  1. This one came out excellent as usual, Rasa, with great artwork and plenty of cute fuzzies, and I will be sure to share it. Fair enough, Rasa and William. Great insights overall, I think, even if we don't all agree 100%. We can indeed respectfully agree to disagree on some things, that have much nuance and are ultimately a question of one person's own conscience against another's. It was a great debate overall, important and healthy I think. And finally Rasa, if you wish to err on the side of caution in regards to the Order specifically, that is fine by me, as that is ultimately not my decision to make. I am simply here to bounce off and share ideas.

Best wishes, and keep up the great work,

    Pete

  3. Just one more thing re video games: If they would put sticks like bowling pins you have to hit & knock down instead of people, that would be acceptable. Or baskets you put basketballs in or inanimate objects instead of PEOPLE that would be skill, not imagined MURDER - Rasa
