The Mosuo are primarily farmers. Subsistence is mostly based on agriculture. Farmers work "seven hours a day and seven months a year".^[23] In the past, they cultivated oats, buckwheat, and flax exclusively.^[24] This changed under Han influence at the end of the nineteenth century. Since then, these farmers have also cultivated, among other things, corn, sunflowers, soybeans, potatoes and other vegetables such as pumpkins and beans. Potatoes were their main staple for a while until the mid-twentieth century when they began growing rice, which today makes up more than half of annual production.^[24] In recent years, subsistence for some Mosuo has shifted dramatically from agriculture due to a thriving tourist industry. 

Rasa says:  Our economy will be run on variety, a reflection of regular world vocations {this will serve our community better} plus off-grid & farm possibilities where we’re not only self-sustaining but share our produce with the world.  There will be a contingent of women on welfare, especially those who have children, but their lives will not be poverty-stricken as that condition implies – they will receive untold benefits fro the Order, mostly free.  There will be women on pensions & social security -  some of these will be our Elders, & they also will not live lonely lives of ‘nursing homes’ – ‘old folks homes’ – ‘the poor widows,’ as they will be part & parcel of our Matriarchy, becoming surrogate Mothers for children of women who work & are not present full time.  These women will have a substantial hand & voice in our community because we honor old women – we do not ‘put them out to pasture, devalue them, as does patriarchy.  Mature women will also be RECOGNIZED as sexual beings, not ‘old hags, over the hill,’ but they will be part of our dance gatherings, meeting men, & having sex with them if they choose!  I, the Founder, have proven that YOUNG MEN LIKE OLDER WOMEN!  This is a fact patriarchs have long hidden from us, discourage & make taboo as they don’t want the Wisdom of the old women to influence young men!  Old women know boys are sent out as ‘cannon fodder’ for the military, they will discourage them from it.  That is one of the main reasons females over 50 are considered ‘has beens,’ & patriarchs push, advertise & covet young women – as they can produce children for military as well as all things else.  They want BREEDERS, they do not want LEADERS which Elders are!  They alone want to lead, it is their voice they want heard – old woman, shut up!  They say:

 “You are finished, you have no USE, you are NOT WANTED, you are UGLY no man wants you, you’re SENILE, stay home, live with the cats, work your garden, baby sit for the important women, etc.”

We say:  “Old woman, you have lived.  You’ve seen what they are about, been victims of the nature & crimes of men.  You saw what they did to you, then your children.  You have observed their system is wrong, you know why.  We want you to tell other women – girls – like it is.  We respect, honor & cherish you.  We want you to belong to us & help establish the ancient Matriarchy as it once was, where the Lion laid down with the Lamb.  This won’t be easy.  We need your Wisdom, your courage, your steadiness.  We encourage you to SPEAK UP, don’t be afraid, you’re in safe space; no one will put you down or ridicule you for our age.  If they do they will be punished or expelled from the Order.  Hold your head up high with other women & with men.  You are sexually desired.  It is natural for young men to desire women their Mom’s age - it’s the patriarchs that have made the derisive term ‘Mamma’s boy.’  It’s all politics & ‘psyching out’ the competition.  Yes, we compete for the love & respect of the young.  You deserve it – they don’t.  They are to ‘Get behind me Satan!’  Yes, they follow, not lead!”

         Ways we can earn money & donations:

·      Run our own businesses.  How about a BAKERY?

·      There is nothing shameful about having an ordinary job, as sales clerk, janitor or factory worker.  Anyone who has an income pays rent to live in our buildings be it apt., dormitory or house. They will get tremendous perks as the spiritual benefits are free, much of the education will be free – of all types, for kids & adults. 

·      We can open up a RESTAURANT – where we serve our own healthy recipes, organic home grown produce, our own free range chickens, {our chickens would only be used here & in our own Order, we’ll not make a business of slaughtering chickens as do the Hutterites – they employ battery chicken houses – which is the worst thing there is.} Recipes could include wild harvested & home grown herbs.  The restaurant would have an adjoining STORE where we sell our products including home-baked bread & other baked goods - & potted flowers.  We’ll be big on potted flowers like geraniums & they will decorate & bring life to our restaurant, our homes, & wherever we are.  We’ll manage them well in our greenhouses.

^·           Chicken farm to sell EGGS {at our off grid Village – where we use solar energy a lot btw}

^·           Sell our extra PRODUCE – fruits & vegetables.  We will have fruit trees – apples, plums grow in this area – if we can manage a greenhouse/s that can be heated in the worst part of winter – we could have peaches, pears, other plant life.  Greenhouses would serve well our production of vegetables, greens & herbs – even flowers.

^·           The Elders & educated, trained women can do PHONE WORK to explain our POV, religion & doctrine to women who are interested.  We don’t charge, like Unity, but we provide how they can donate if they wish.  These or other women can also PRAY for healing on the phone & also give spiritual advice & consolation to women. Some of these ladies will appreciate our aspirations, give donations or leave us in their wills.  There will be MUCH TO ANSWER as we are so different than the mainstream, & we might be giving great encouragement to many women – those in the adult trade & older women who feel left out or marginalized by this society.

^·           We will encourage our Members, both those who joined & those born into the Order – to get professional or trade vocations if they wish.  It would be helpful to us if we have nurses, lawyers, ex-military, police officers, bankers, truck drivers, repair women of all types, construction experts, architects, dentists, doctors – anything & everything people would like to study.  We will encourage & assist with higher education if needed.  Such trained persons would be terrific help in our communities as say, a dentist, could provide large breaks to Members for dental work.  A doctor in the house couldn’t hurt especially for emergencies – or nurses.  We’d like nurses around with child-problems especially.  Ex military & police would be perfect for security & problems with troublesome people – both male & female.

o     It would be good to have Members study Architecture & building, as we would want to, down the road, build our own structures of all types:  Homes, barns, sheds, hermit houses, greenhouses, dog & bird houses – whatever.

These are just a few off-the cuff ideas, there will be many more as we go along, many Members will have skills & talents about opening up shops, stores, boutiques, coffee houses – anything & everything  and these Members would be a contribution to the Order in more ways than one. For example, they can give courses to our members in how to start a business or do the skill, craft or vocation they have.  A nurse can give a course on nursing, using the books she already used.  It won’t be a degree to work in a hospital, but all of us can benefit from knowledge of medicine.  An architect/builder can pass on her skills to other members.  We should all be good with herbs – if a person wants to be full-time in this, they could create some sort of service – identifying & picking herbs in the wild, making tinctures, poultices, preserving herbs {have to be careful here re ‘practicing medicine without a license.  Dr. Richard Schultze had his clinic shut down originally by force; he now only sells the remedies}.  This will be an important part of our lives – alternative remedies.  I personally work with herbs in the way just mentioned.

         There will also be those in show business.  We’ll have that type of education included from childhood on.  Some of these people can go to Hollywood, become actors, models, dancers like I did.  They can be movie stars, character actors, produce movies for our Order.  The sky is the limit.  We’ll train Members from childhood to speak in public & to give interviews to the media on TV, in Podcasts & the like. 

         Members will work in promotion for our Order – public relations.  We will do extensive internet work of all kinds.

         As far as a TOURIST TRADE this requires some serious thought.  We don’t want to be invaded or our privacy compromised especially by men. But there’s no harm in having retreats for women or inviting interested females of all ages to spend a day, weekend or vacation with us – even a Sabbatical.  Whether they have to pay or do work could depend on the situation.  But we definitely want to beware of spies or those who secretly want to ‘expose’ what they think is negative about us.  Say like the lol Pulitzer-prize winning story ‘Ten Days in a Mad House’ by Nellie Bly.  Anything unusual, interesting or different, people will want to make a run on us for notoriety & money.  We’re past the borders of Mosuos, more Matriarchal, more free & open for women, way unusual than Amish or Hutterites or any of those Anabaptists -  especially when I introduce the possibility of one of our Members earning a star for ‘Stripping for God,’ an event held yearly to honor the founder – myself.  To be explained later.  This event will be for women only.  And of course people will want to INVADE that!

Wikipedia continues:  Mosuo also keep a variety of livestock. Since the early twentieth century they have raised buffalo, cows, horses, and goats which originated from Han and Tibetan regions. However, their preferred stock is pigs. Pork plays several important roles in Mosuo society. It is fed to guests, is the obligatory offering at funerals, and used as payment or reimbursement. Hua (2001) insists that it is "a kind of currency and... a symbol of wealth".^[25]

Once a year, regions of Mosuo males gather for a livestock fair. They travel for miles on buses, horses, or foot to attend.^[10] Here men sell and trade livestock to supplement household incomes.

The Mosuo fish on Lake Lugu and also set land-based fish traps; however, they do not use motorboats, and catching fish in open water using their very primitive gear is not easy.

 

Rasa says:  We’ll have livestock at our ‘off grid’ & farm Villages:  Horses, cows for milk, cheese, yogurt, butter, ditto goats – no pigs unless they’re pets – never slaughtered. Lots of chickens, maybe geese & ducks.

We have a small pond, creeks, & 500’ of riverfront on my property, plus a 5 acre island.  This is for recreation & food. We can introduce lots of fish to the small pond – as long as we feed them as it doesn’t have much food {I used to have big mouth bass but when I stopped feeding them they died – they appeared because of a major flood, coming down from somewhere up the mountain.} We can dig more ponds, there’s lots of room here & swamps for that.  There’s plenty fish in the river, we can devise efficient methods of catching them – nets would be good.  We can put a large net between the ‘Island of Mirth’ & my riverfront bank – the channel is only about 50’ across, less at some spots. I will suggest fish once a week minimum in our cafeteria & Village Long House gatherings.

Mosuo living near Lugu Lake inhabit an aesthetically pleasing region. Photographers, television crews, writers, and artists are drawn to their homes. This increased attention has also brought tourists. Tourism is primarily domestic and typically occurs as a part of organized tour groups to view a culture that seems "exotic". Tourism has influenced kinship and parenting practices, with Mosuo residing in areas where tourism is prevalent being less likely to adhere to strict matrilineal norms.

 Rasa says:  This is a dire prediction but sadly, it will come true.  In time, if Tourism remains their major source of income, the Matriarchy will be compromised – as it was built, so they say because of economics.  It just made more sense for survival.  But if Tourism becomes now their main income – yes, they have to continue their traditions but only FOR SHOW, & it will become ANTIQUATED, theater for money.  It won’t happen immediately, but since it’s already changing, in a few generations their culture could be totally eroded & no more authentic Matriarchy – a living museum.  They already sing & dance for Tourists every night.  Tourists pay to put on Mosuo clothing & take pictures.

Our Matriarchy will not fall apart this way because our reasons for it are different – they are ideological.  We challenge patriarchy, that it is wrong for the planet & counter God’s will; we wish to revert to the Mother God/Mother Love paradigm, ‘Biophilia’ instead of ‘Necrophilia’.  It’s a small thing, this Order, but all begins small, an acorn to an Oak Tree, a mustard seed to a tree where birds nest.  A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step - Jesus’ death on the Cross crushed all his disciples, they thought it was over – they ran for their lives.  But Jesus had set a precedent, a religion, a POV & a Culture that would spring up in his bloody footsteps.  And it did spring up, but it took 313 years.  A lot happened during that time – the Apostles & Holy Women had to receive the Holy Spirit – Pentecost, the Divine Comforter, which gave them the Courage to go on.

I expect that this Order will gain Supernatural help.  I have no idea how it’ll happen but it will. God will Empower it, I have no Power.  All we have to do is conceive it - by the Grace of God write it down, proclaim it, & the rest is Faith.
