Two things I should note: 1) To forgive does NOT mean to forget. Regardless, if someone shows you that they cannot be trusted, then simply don't trust them. 2) Forgiveness does not remit punishment, and either way, they will still have to face their own karma regardless. As the saying goes, to forgive is to set a prisoner free, and discover that the prisoner was YOU all along. Holding onto hate is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die, as the Buddha would say.
