there's few movies I'd watch more than once: Anna Karenina {certain versions} - Oliver Twist, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights & classics like that. But I did watch this one twice to get the MOOD. Saw it long ago & forgot details, it 's mysterious/mystical/sea with seals got me going. The legends - oh, the legends that you will believe after you hear & see them come true. Seals turning into women, there is a classic scene of a woman emerging from a sealskin the way a butterfly or moth comes out of a cacoon, & this woman's pelt is captured by a man so she can't get back in. She lives with him, they have multiple children until she learns from a child he hid her skin somewhere. She goes gets the skin, & vallah, GONE. Then a baby in a crib drifts into the sea, is gone. But this seal/woman is his Mother & saves him & he lives with her on this deserted island with deserted houses, Mother seal feeds him sea creatures, they have a fire, etc. Mystical stuff, up my alley. It's the way the story is handled, the MOOD of it. Just the seaguls crying alone puts you into it.
